Tarangire National Park

Tarangire National Park is located in northern Tanzania, about 120 kilometers southwest of Arusha. It’s an easy two-hour drive from the city, making it a convenient addition to a northern Tanzania safari. The park covers around 2,850 square kilometers, offering diverse landscapes and wildlife.

Tarangire is best known for its large elephant herds, often seen near the Tarangire River. The park is also home to zebras, wildebeests, giraffes, and predators like lions and leopards. It’s a fantastic spot to observe animals gathering around the river, especially during the dry season.

The park’s landscape is dotted with iconic baobab trees and acacia woodlands. The best time to visit Tarangire National Park is during the dry season, from June to October, when wildlife is concentrated near water sources. For birdwatchers, the wet season from November to May is ideal, as migratory birds fill the skies and the landscape turns lush and green.
